Change is My Passion

“The only constant is change.”  It is a saying that emerged from ancient Greek philosophy and it still holds true today.  During my studies, while attaining my Masters in Business, I became fascinated by the psychology of change.  Some companies were attentive to their employees while navigating a change, while others were not.  There were tangible differences in the business outcomes based on how that change was facilitated.  I ended up going onto obtain my certification in Change Management as it became an area of passion in my professional career.  Little did I know that years later I'd embark on my own plant forward change journey.

My Plant Based Change Journey

There is a saying, "Once you know, you can't unknow."  It is simple and true.  It can be very disruptive when the new information you learn conflicts with your currently held beliefs or values.  This is because not taking action puts you in a state of cognitive dissonance.  Cognitive dissonance is having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as they relate to behavioral decisions and attitude changes.  You are essentially in a state of mental conflict.

My process of taking action on the new information I learned was tough.  Personal change can evoke strong feelings as we move through what is referred to as the change curve.  The change curve is highly studied and has many business applications.  I feel SO amazing today, but for awhile it felt like a roller coaster.  As I reflected on my personal experience, I started to imagine what a plant forward change curve might look like and how I could help people move through it.

Below is a visual representation of my change experience  - and I believe it will resonate with others.  This website is designed to help people navigate a dietary evolution to eat more plants.  It's divided into stages.  Stage 1 is Information.  Stage 2 is Support.  Stage 3 is Direction.  Stage 4 is Encouragement.  Stage 1 is a great place to start.
